Everyone keep saying NFT this, NFT that, what is that? How could it be applied in gaming? Will we ever get it involved with Cabal / Cabal Mobile? Let’s dive in!
What is NFT?
An NFT is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, which can be sold and traded. The NFT can be associated with a particular digital or physical asset (such as a file or a physical object) and a license to use the asset for a specified purpose. An NFT (and, if applicable, the associated license to use, copy or display the underlying asset) can be traded and sold on digital markets. The extralegal nature of NFT trading usually results in an informal exchange of ownership over the asset that has no legal basis for enforcement, often conferring little more than use as a status symbol.
NFTs function like cryptographic tokens, but, unlike cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, NFTs are not mutually interchangeable, hence not fungible. While all bitcoins are equal, each NFT may represent a different underlying asset and thus may have a different value.[8] NFTs are created when blockchains string records of cryptographic hash, a set of characters identifying a set of data, onto previous records therefore creating a chain of identifiable data blocks. This cryptographic transaction process ensures the authentication of each digital file by providing a digital signature that is used to track NFT ownership. However, data links that point to details such as where the art is stored can be affected by link rot.

What is NFT in gaming?
NFTs can be used to represent in-game assets, such as digital plots of land, which some commentators describe as being controlled “by the user” instead of the game developer by allowing assets to be traded on third-party marketplaces without permission from the game developer.

Cabal goes NFT?
On Jan 05th, 2022, PlayPark PH – publisher of Cabal Online for the Philippines region and Cabal Mobile for both the Philippines and Vietnam – gave a debut of their new logo. The article reads:
More exciting still, PlayPark is preparing to step into the game publishing 3.0 era, also known as Play-to-Earn, by applying Blockchain technology and NFT to games to truly meet the lifestyles of the new generation.

Beside of that, on Jan 27th, 2022, in an interview with media, representative from ESTGames said:
ESTGames plans to release a version of Cabal Mobile for Southeast Asia region as a P2E (Play-to-Earn) within this year (2022). Although, the release date is not yet fixed. ESTGames will utilise their knowledge of launching the blockchain game Cats Cafe earlier in 2018 into the development of the P2E version of Cabal Mobile.
The demand of Cabal Mobile is HUGE in the Southeast Asia region, the success of Cabal Mobile for Thailand (launched in 2020) and Cabal Mobile for the Philippines and Vietnam (launched in 2021) proved it, both are on top of the Google Play and Apple App Store for high ranks for a long time.
Lastly, on Jan 20th, 2022, ESTGames just signed a Business Agreement with KORBIT the biggest NFT Market in Korea for long term collaboration. This officially opened the new era for ESTGames as well as giving a huge bright future for all of ESTGames players and collaborators.
Mr. Lee Hyung-baek, CEO of ESTGames, said, “The development experience and powerful IP (Intellectual Property) from ESTGames collaborate with the know-how from Korbit the first virtual asset exchange market in Korea, we both expecting for a tight and massive synergy.”
What do you think?
I think that, going NFT will empower the players, giving them the right to own their own assets that they farmed in game. How about you? Do you play NFT games? Or do you even know about NFT? Are you expecting to get NFT involved with your Cabal Online or Cabal Mobile? Let me know in the comment!
